|Features:|| Founded in 1996, Earth Weave was the first carpet manufacturer in the United States to introduce a running line product that incorporates only 100% natural materials.
Our Bio-Floor™ carpet is completely different than any of the other wool carpets made today that are full of claims to be eco-friendly and natural. Those products are full of synthetic chemicals whether it is the non-organic face yarn dyes, mothproofing, stain protection and/or in the synthetic styrene butadiene adhesive backing. Chemicals are not healthy. Earth Weave knows this and now you do too!
Refer to this chart for the Earth Weave difference:
** There are a few importers of carpets claiming that their line of wool carpets are made using untreated wool. If you actually call them and press them on it they will reluctantly admit that they do put moth proofing on the wool even though all of their literature states otherwise.

|Construction:||We are specialists in Healthy carpet. Our manufacturing technique is exactly what makes Bio-Floor™ the only truly nontoxic, all natural carpet made in North America. The Bio-Floor™ line is used extensively by those suffering from chemical sensitivity as well as those that are concerned about the home environment. We have gone to great lengths to design a product that meets the demands of these clients yet sacrifices nothing in the way of styling, comfort and durability.
Earth Weave starts by using only pure wool. We apply no pesticides or stain protections that are commonly used by the other wool carpet manufacturers. The application of these chemicals would greatly affect indoor air quality through the off gassing of volatile organic compounds.
The primary backing that we use is also an industry first combination of hemp and cotton. We chose to use the hardy hemp fiber, due to its durability, strength, and mold and mildew resistance. Our all-natural primary backing is specifically designed to be used in our biodegradable flooring and is exclusive to Earth Weave.
The wool yarns are locked into place with a natural adhesive that is derived from the rubber tree. This adhesive is completely biodegradable and nontoxic as well. This is counter to the styrene adhesive used in all other wool carpets.
For the back of the carpet we use a jute secondary. Jute was commonly used in the carpet industry before the introduction of the synthetic backings currently employed. We chose to use this type of backing to further our cause of making a completely natural and nontoxic carpet. Occasionally other wool carpet manufacturers will use jute as a secondary but it is hiding a synthetic core of plastic and styrene.
As you can see, Earth Weave has developed a unique product that maintains all the criteria of those looking for the purest, least toxic floor covering available. Bio-Floor™ can be used without reservation to provide the utmost in comfort and durability while maintaining indoor air quality and your health.
|Application:||Our carpets are constructed using the highest quality wool available. This provides not only an extremely durable product but a luxuriously soft one as well. Our carpets are not coarse like many of the other natural face fiber products such as sisal, sea grass, coir and jute. The low cost, entry level wool carpet and wool carpet blends found in the marketplace are made from lesser quality wool and those just don’t offer the softness or durability our customers demand. Many times our products are used in nurseries because of the softness.
Our carpet is a good choice over radiant heat. We have testing data that shows where carpets are favorably used with radiant floor systems. This is real world testing in an actual room size test chamber. The data validates what we have always known and of course this is great news to our customers that want the comfort/softness of healthy, non-toxic wool carpet instead of a hard surface floor covering.
